Service Grinding & Sharpening Inc. has been a leading sharpening service provider in the Midwest since its inception in 1976. What started as a single-machine operation has grown into a state-of-the-art facility in Stacy, MN — serving everyone from one-man garage shops to large corporate manufacturers.

Under the ownership of Jon and Jessica Thielen, SGSI continues its legacy while pushing into new territory. The company continues to invest in the best equipment available — running 4 fully automated ANCA FX7 CNC grinders with Fanuc loaders and Ultra Lasers, a complete Vollmer saw grinding suite, German Göckel knife grinders, and a full inspection lab. The same state-of-the-art equipment used to manufacture the tooling we sharpen.

Manufacturing Capability

Beyond sharpening — we manufacture custom form tools from carbide blanks. Step drills, reamers, dovetails, custom endmills. Rendered prints for approval before we build.

Jon Thielen

President & Owner

Jon is dedicated to his work and the growth of the business. He balances long hours at the shop with quality time with his family. In the winter months he escapes to the mountains on his snowmobile.

Jessica Thielen

CFO & Owner

Jess balances life in the office with being a mom to their daughter Brynn. She brings order and precision to the business side while still finding time for her passions of crafting and traveling.

Shop Manager

A veteran of the National Guard, Tim keeps the shop running smoothly between shifts. When he's not at work he stays busy with his puppy Ruby.

Harley enjoys spending time fishing and working on his classic truck when he's away from the grinders.
